We've all heard about people and their addictions to drugs and alcohol, but we never hear about one of the most common and dangerous form of addiction: Addiction to Fiction. This is a serious condition that many people are secretly suffering from.
An addiction to fiction is most commonly found in teens, young adults and "nerds". The addiction usually stems from fictional characters or places from books, movies, games or TV shows. An addiction can last for years and can be very contagious, especially to the curious.
Symptoms that you suffer from an addiction to fiction include:
- You think about said book/movie/game/tv show most of the day
- You talk about said book/movie/game/tv show more than real life things
- You worry more about the characters more than you do your own family
- You count down till you can enjoy your hit of fiction
- You quote things from said book/movie/game/tv show in real life
- You have a better relationship with characters than with your friends
- You have an automatic bond with anyone else that has the same addiction as you
- You have spent more than 2hrs straight enjoying said addiction
- You have named a child or pet after a character
This list does not include all of the symptoms of a Fiction Addiction. If you have more please add them in the comments!
I sadly suffer from all of these symptoms (except for that last one)!!! I am addicted to many different fictions ranging from books to movies to TV shows. It all started when I first discovered Harry Potter. Thanks J.K. Rowling! My current addictions include: Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, The Walking Dead, Teen Wolf, Any John Green book and Cassandra Clare's books.
Thanks for Reading!!! I hope that if you too happily suffer from and addiction to fiction, that you never let anyone change it!!!
Talk to you guys later!
Love Rosey Blue xx
